As a woman of a certain age (think over 40, under 60), I am, so it would appear, the target market for every anti-ageing cream. Not a day goes by without being reminded that the multi-billion-pound skincare industry survives on pledges of eternal youth. Wrinkles, eye bags, and general “dullness” can and should be fixed immediately.
But while I don’t doubt that a few of the miracle serums do work, there’s an altogether better alternative to anti-ageing products. It comes without a bottle, needn’t cost a fortune, and promises to change your life in some way:
Travel.
The thrill of visiting new destinations, trying new food, and meeting new people, is the ultimate antidote to ageing (and very possibly to the curious malaise of “dullness”, too). It’s great for the skin, and there’s nothing better for the mood. A week or two of being away leaves my body looking far more toned and hydrated, and I’m a happier, more positive person when I return home.
It’s no wonder, really. Our lifestyle, diet, and sleep habits have a direct impact on the body’s biggest organ: the skin. Soaking up fresh air and sunlight, eating well, and taking it easy can yield a remarkable – almost immediate – dermatological transformation.
So rather than spending a fortune on anti-ageing creams, why not invest in travel instead? The benefits go far beyond skincare—exploring new places rejuvenates the body, mind, and spirit in ways no beauty product can. Here are my five top anti-ageing travel tips to feel (and possibly even look) 10 years younger:
1. Sunshine, Humidity & Superfoods: The Natural Glow-Boosters
Warm, tropical destinations are hard to beat when it comes to revitalisation. A combination of sunshine, humidity, vibrant raw foods, and natural botanicals works wonders for the skin. Instead of relying on expensive serums with exotic ingredients, go straight to the source:

If travel has taught me anything, it’s that the journey itself really counts. Every adventure of any distance enhances our inner and outer beauty. From trekking through jungles and getting lost in Beijing’s hutongs, to strolling along the Thames Path, each experience leaves a lasting imprint.
Instead of splurging on another skincare product, consider investing in a life-changing journey. Unlike beauty treatments, travel’s effects last forever—and the glow it leaves behind is priceless.
