The Wolseley to open first hotel in New York as Minor launches global luxury brand

The Wolseley, long known in London as one of the capital’s best-known dining rooms, is to become a hotel brand for the first time, with a 76-room New York property set to open in early 2027
The Wolseley will open its first hotel in New York in early 2027, as parent company Minor Hotels turns one of London’s best-known restaurant names into a global luxury hospitality brand.
The first site, The Wolseley Hotel New York, will be located at 130 West 44th Street in Midtown Manhattan, steps from Bryant Park. It will also bring The Wolseley restaurant and bar to the United States for the first time, marking the American debut of the London dining name.
The hotel will occupy a landmark building originally constructed in 1905 as the clubhouse for The Lambs Club and designed by McKim, Mead & White. The address has long been associated with Broadway and New York’s theatre and cultural life.
Minor Hotels said the New York opening would act as the flagship for a wider international rollout of The Wolseley Hotels, with future sites planned across Europe, North America, Asia and the Middle East.
The Manhattan property will have 76 guest rooms and suites, alongside The Wolseley New York restaurant, which the company described as the North American culinary flagship for the brand. Plans also include a cellar-level speakeasy bar and a redesigned wellness centre.
The new hotel brand takes its name and inspiration from The Wolseley restaurant on Piccadilly in London, which Minor said had informed its focus on dining, design and service. In New York, the company said that model would be adapted for an international luxury hotel setting.
Dillip Rajakarier, Group CEO of Minor International, parent company of Minor Hotels, said: “The launch of The Wolseley Hotels marks an exciting new chapter for Minor Hotels. Inspired by the enduring success of The Wolseley in London, our vision is to create hotels anchored in culinary excellence, architectural character, and a genuine sense of occasion. The Wolseley Hotel New York establishes our first flagship and sets the standard for the brand’s global expansion.”
Aviv Laurence, CEO of owner BJGH, added: “Introducing The Wolseley restaurant and bar to the United States through our New York flagship is a defining moment. Together with Minor Hotels, we are creating a destination that celebrates heritage, hospitality, and the enduring appeal of classic European luxury.”
