On the island of Hvar, Maslina Resort redefines five-star hospitality through its philosophy of Mindful Luxury, a blend of sustainable design, holistic wellness, and authentic Mediterranean living on Croatia’s sunniest shore
Located on Maslinica Bay, just moments from the UNESCO-protected town of Stari Grad, Maslina Resort is situated on one of the most exclusive and peaceful corners of Hvar, known as Europe’s sunniest island. Maslina Resort is Croatia’s very first Mindful Luxury resort and a member of Relais & Châteaux. The five-star property blends luxury, holistic wellbeing, and celebrated design to create a place like no other.
Purposeful design is at the heart of Maslina Resort, and this extends beyond the hotel itself. Guests can choose to arrive at the property via the hotel’s custom-designed speedboat — a sleek and sophisticated vessel created by Croatian company Colnago. Built exclusively for Maslina Resort, it blends natural materials with contemporary design and mirrors the ethos of the property.
Sympathetically built into the hillside, Maslina Resort features a ventilated façade that blends into the landscape. Natural stone, wood, and terracotta tones mirror those of the Adriatic environment, while Mediterranean vegetation — including olive trees, for which Maslina (meaning “olive” in Croatian) is named — provides an environment that is as tranquil as it is authentic.
Maslina’s Mindful Luxury philosophy is the foundation for the property, and this is evident in the design and materials used. Many of the items have been custom-made for Maslina Resort, and the craftsmanship of each is reflected in the attention to detail. Each room and suite is fitted with Coco-Mat mattresses, organic linens, and bespoke furnishings, and includes Japanese-inspired bathtubs.
A striking piece of Brač stone forms the reception desk. Two swimming pools — one for families and an infinity pool for adults — offer sweeping views of the bay, and Maslina Resort’s pathways are lined with aromatic herbs and wildflowers, reinforcing the connection between luxury and nature.
Maslina’s three private villas extend Mindful Luxury to larger groups, families, and friends seeking complete privacy with full access to the hotel’s facilities. Each villa features a private swimming pool, expansive terraces, and panoramic views of the Adriatic. The villas’ dedicated team ensures a truly bespoke experience, including in-villa dining with curated menus, private barbecues, and tailored wellness or dining experiences.

Maslina Resort has a select number of new villas planned — each maintaining the same architectural harmony, sustainability principles, and tranquil luxury that define the five-star resort.
Wellness is the foundation of Maslina Resort’s identity. Hvar’s reputation as a health retreat dates back to 1868, when the Hvar Health Society declared the island’s air and climate ideal for recuperation, particularly for those with respiratory conditions. Building on this heritage, Pharomatiq Wellness offers a holistic approach to wellbeing, blending modern therapies with traditional healing practices.
Croatia’s 600 species of medicinal and aromatic plants, 120 of which have been used for centuries in local remedies, inspire Pharomatiq Wellness’ garden-to-skin concept. Treatments use organic, locally sourced ingredients, including essential oils and herbs from Maslina Resort’s garden. Complementary mindful practices such as sound healing, Reiki, and yoga integrate the mind-body connection, offering guests a complete sensory and spiritual reset. Lavender is celebrated throughout Hvar, and Maslina Resort has sleep packages inspired by the perennial herb, connecting the island’s heritage to its wellbeing practices.
The Mediterranean diet is celebrated at Terra, Maslina Resort’s Michelin-recommended restaurant. The earth-to-table philosophy is evident in the dishes created: fresh fish, local meats, and an array of fruits and vegetables are all locally sourced, resulting in a fresh Mediterranean menu that connects guests to Maslina Resort’s ethos.
A•Bay Beach Bar is where you can linger longer, with sun-soaked afternoons and sunset DJ sets overlooking the bay. The summer menu focuses on cocktails, refreshing salads, and seafood poke bowls, creating an atmosphere that’s chic yet relaxed.
Maslina Resort’s programme of complimentary in-house experiences immerses guests in the island’s environment. Daily activities include olive oil tastings, local wine tastings, yoga sessions, and sound healing — all designed to connect guests with the natural and cultural rhythm of Hvar. Private boat excursions, diving, and cycling tours offer opportunities for discovery on land and sea.
Stari Grad is a destination of true understated luxury, and it has been a retreat for those in the know for many decades — including celebrities, royalty, and former First Ladies. Six months after the assassination of John F. Kennedy, Jackie Kennedy came to Stari Grad and was seen waterskiing in the bay, declaring to the media that this was the “most free she had ever felt”. The Mediterranean continues to attract discerning travellers seeking authenticity, privacy, and purpose-driven luxury. Maslina Resort stands apart. Its mindful approach to design and hospitality, deep respect for Hvar’s heritage, and unwavering commitment to wellness and sustainability position it as one of Europe’s most inspiring resorts.
