Jaguar puts controversial rebrand on the road with £130K 1,030PS Type 01

British carmaker finally reveals the production model behind its radical new image – a £130,000 electric GT capable of 0–62mph in 3.2 seconds and an anticipated range of up to 450 miles
Jaguar has finally put its controversial new image on the road with the unveiling of the most powerful production car in its history.
The all-electric Type 01 is the first production model of the company’s radical reinvention, which began with its much-mocked “Copy Nothing” rebrand in November 2024.
The campaign caused uproar after Jaguar unveiled a new logo and an advert filled with brightly dressed models – but no cars.
A shocking pink Type 00 concept followed weeks later, giving the first glimpse of what the new-look company actually intended to build.

Revealed today, the four-door Type 01 produces up to 1,030PS and 1,365Nm of torque, reaches 62mph in 3.2 seconds and will cost from £130,000 when orders open early next year.
Its 118kWh battery is expected to deliver up to 450 miles under the WLTP test, with a 350kW charger capable of adding as much as 200 miles of range in 13 minutes.
The production car retains much of the Type 00’s dramatic design, including its long bonnet, low roof, 23-inch wheels and extended rear. It is also the most aerodynamic Jaguar yet, with active bodywork helping it achieve a drag coefficient of 0.23.
Three electric motors provide intelligent torque vectoring, while Jaguar says more than 360 patent applications were generated during development.

The car has been designed and engineered in Britain and will go into production at JLR’s Solihull plant in 2027.
Jaguar managing director Rawdon Glover said: “From its dramatic design to its captivating drive, Type 01 distils the essence of Jaguar into a car for a new era.
“Jaguars should be objects of desire and culturally relevant – that’s their natural habitat and where Jaguar is returning.
“Type 01 is the foundation of the brand, one that makes no compromise between design and engineering in our quest to reinvent Jaguar for the 21st century.”
