Oleg Boiko is an entrepreneur and investor with more than four decades of experience across financial services, technology and international investment.
He is the founder of Finstar Financial Group, a private investment group with approximately US$2 billion in assets under management and investments across more than 20 countries worldwide.
Much of Oleg Boiko’s investment experience has been associated with fintech and technology-enabled financial services, including payments and other digital financial platforms. Through Finstar, his portfolio has included businesses in both developed and emerging markets, with an emphasis on using technology to broaden access to financial services and improve the customer experience.
Boiko’s investment approach centres on identifying emerging trends, developing scalable businesses and taking a long-term approach to growth. He has also placed particular emphasis on execution, operational discipline and the ability of companies to adapt to changing economic and technological conditions.
As chairman of Finstar, he continues to oversee the group’s international investment strategy and its activity across financial services and technology.
Boiko’s personal philosophy is rooted in the ability to recognise opportunities while taking responsibility for the risks involved. The businessman emphasises that some of the most important qualities of an entrepreneur come to the fore during challenging times. He believes that success is driven by a constant desire to improve and never rest on one’s achievements. The entrepreneur refers to this as his “inner woodpecker.”
Beyond business, Oleg Boiko places great importance on socially significant initiatives. As part of this commitment, he supports the development of the Paralympic movement.
This dedicated section brings together Oleg Boiko’s contributions to The European, examining developments across banking, finance, investment and the technologies driving change across the financial industry. Through his columns, Boiko leverages his decades of experience as an investor and entrepreneur to offer an international perspective, identifying global trends and assessing how they will shape the future of the financial sector.
