Marriott’s Autograph Collection has entered the Cape Town market with a new 90-room hotel in Camps Bay, signalling continued confidence in the city’s hospitality and real estate sectors
Marriott International has opened a new Autograph Collection hotel in Cape Town, adding a 90-room property in Camps Bay as international operators continue to expand in South Africa’s coastal tourism market.
The hotel, named Morea House, is the brand’s first site in Cape Town and forms part of Marriott’s wider strategy of increasing its presence in high-demand destinations across Africa.
Autograph Collection is positioned as a portfolio of independently styled hotels operated within Marriott’s global network.
Morea House opens at a time when Cape Town’s hotel sector has remained one of the country’s strongest performers, supported by sustained international arrivals and renewed development activity in premium coastal districts.
The hotel includes guestrooms with ocean or mountain views, a pool restaurant, and two further dining and wellness facilities.
Sandra Schulze-Potgieter of Marriott International said: “Morea House is our first Autograph Collection property in Cape Town, and it reflects the city’s spirit at every turn.
“From the architecture and interiors to the sweeping views of the ocean and mountains, the hotel unfolds as a place to pause, explore, and connect with the Mother City and its people.
“Every detail invites guests to savour life’s pleasures, creating an experience that is personal, soulful, and exactly like nothing else.”

Marriott describes the opening as part of a growing portfolio strategy in the region’s leisure and business travel markets.
Albert Smit, General Manager of Morea House, said: “When guests arrive, our intention is for them to feel as if they’ve discovered a sanctuary created just for them.
“We want them to leave restored, reconnected, and carrying with them the essence of this place. Whether our guests are seeking a romantic escape, a personal reset, or a base for exploring the Cape’s beaches, vineyards, and mountains, Morea House delivers a distinctive experience rooted in place, unlike anywhere else.”
The launch adds further supply to Camps Bay, one of Cape Town’s most established hotel and residential areas, where development has remained steady despite wider macroeconomic pressures on the hospitality sector.
