Only an hour and a half from Paris, La Borde is an upscale guesthouse, nestled in the heart of the Burgundy countryside. Contained within a 14th-century mansion are four Junior Suites and one King Suite, surrounded by 17 acres of natural beauty. Truly an unforgettable experience, visitors come from all around the world to discover this carefree corner of Burgundy and the French way of life.
The story behind La Borde
The owners, Marieke and Rik Klomp, originally from the Netherlands, fell in love with France and the stately mansion twenty years ago. After using it as a vacation home for many years, they decided to convert it into a six-room retreat in 2012. These wonderful hosts have thought of every little detail, giving the property all the charm of an exquisite, luxurious mansion.
An unforgettable experience
Guests may never want to leave the haven of their suite, with its vaulted ceilings and wooden beams, but as an honoured guest of Marieke and Rik, they are always invited to enjoy a glass of Burgundy wine in the Renaissance-style lounge or one of the beautifully decorated spaces and terraces.
All newly renovated, each suite has its own personality – identified by the name of a flower – and they all offer the comfort and a design to the standard of five-star luxury.
Exclusive services
Everything at La Borde is designed with the guests’ relaxation in mind. In addition to exploring the vast Burgundy countryside, guests have access to an outdoor pool (heated from May to September), located in the castle courtyard and access to the Jacuzzi and a fitness centre. Souls in search of harmony will find their Zen in the Spa, where a sauna, a steam room and ‘Massothermie’ are available.
For a delicious and chic dining experience, guests can eat authentic and freshly prepared cuisine, and savour world-class wine from the extensive wine cellar in the converted carriage house or on the terrace – Marieke herself prepares all specialties!
