Prime Minister Andy Burnham and Mayor of Liverpool Steve Rotheram to join Gogglebox on Channel 4 this evening
The UK Prime Minister will appear on Gogglebox tonight as part of a special episode for Stand Up To Cancer.
Andy Burnham will join Steve Rotherham, the Mayor of Liverpool, to react to the week’s television, Channel 4 has revealed.
The pair are among a string of celebrity guests including pop group Sugababes and Celebrity Traitors star, Joe Lycett.
According to Channel 4, Burnham has a “longstanding commitment to supporting charities, building on his work as Mayor of Greater Manchester and continuing in office as Prime Minister”.
It added: “Nothing is off limits as Gogglebox continues to celebrate the simple joy of watching television together.
“They’ll be sharing hilarious, honest and often unexpected reactions to the week’s biggest television moments as well as poignant stories all in aid of Stand Up To Cancer.”
Supported by the Entertainment Industry Foundation (EIF) in the US and launched in the UK in 2012, Stand Up To Cancer funds translational research, turning academic breakthroughs in the labs into new treatments that make a real difference for people with cancer.
More than £127 million has been raised in the UK to date, funding 73 clinical trials and research projects involving more than 13,000 cancer patients.
Research projects include developing pioneering technology using lasers and robots to improve cancer surgery, using AI to optimise radiotherapy treatment for rectal cancer, creating lollypops that could detect mouth cancer and much, much more.
