Hollywood star Ryan Reynolds has been appointed ‘Chief Island Officer’ at Yas Island, the international tourist attraction in Abu Dhabi
The Deadpool actor, 47, takes over from Kevin Hart and Jason Momoa in a role the resort claims will “elevate the Yas Island experience to even greater heights”.
In a promotional video, Reynolds is seen parachuting onto the Yas Marina F1 circuit after missing his intended landing spot at the W Abu Dhabi hotel.
“I’ve been an actor, a producer, a Welsh football club owner and I could go on. So I will …” he says, before the rest of his speech is drowned out by the noise of passing racing cars.
The trailer then shows him playing golf, zooming down water slides at Yas Waterworld, and screaming on a rollercoaster at Warner Bros. World.
Liam Findlay of Miral Destinations, which owns and operates Yas Island, said: “With the appointment of Ryan Reynolds as our latest Chief Island Officer of Yas Island Abu Dhabi, we continue the tradition of excellence established by Kevin Hart and Jason Momoa.
“Reynolds brings his own unique blend of charisma, energy, and enthusiasm to the role, promising to elevate the Yas Island experience to even greater heights. We’re thrilled to embark on this exhilarating journey with him, inviting fans worldwide to be part of the legacy.”
Yas Island is around 15 minutes from Abu Dhabi International Airport and within easy reach of Dubai.
The park spans 183,000 square metres across five levels. By comparison, Wembley Stadium has 180,000 square metres of internal floor space.
