The award-winning Montego Bay Convention Centre (MBCC), the largest convention facility of its kind in the English-speaking Caribbean, has won the World Travel Award for the Caribbean’s ‘Leading Meeting and Conference Facility’ for six consecutive years from 2011 to 2016.

The MBCC has carved out a leading venue status in the Caribbean. This highly regarded facility has hosted several major events, most recently, FOROMIC 2016 and IOSCO 2017.

Opened in 2011, the SMG managed facility offers both comprehensive meeting spaces and modern amenities. The centre comprises of more than 139,000 sqft of space and has been designed to accommodate exhibitions, conventions and galas. Besides its intelligent design, the MBCC is also visually striking. Attendees have views of both the coast, the mountains, the centre’s plantation style shutters and cut stone work which evoke Jamaica’s classic Georgian style of architecture.

The facility has an open-air layout with the meeting, exhibition and ballroom spaces all housed in three separate buildings, connecting via outdoor walkways.

The MBCC’s largest space, the 57,525 sqft Exhibition Hall, is an impressive space spanning two buildings and offers room for 282 booths as well as up to 6200 guests for theatre style events. The 18,684 sqft Grand Ballroom can seat up to 1,580 and our 10,161 sqft Meeting Block has nine meeting rooms.

Supporting these spaces are the MBCC’s well-equipped catering facilities. A 15,000 sqft kitchen, along with additional prep spaces on each block.

As for onsite technology, MBCC is equipped with video conferencing capabilities and high-speed Internet, a fully integrated broadcast and teleconference system and onsite audio visual technicians.

Sangster International Airport, the Caribbean’s leading airport, is 10 minutes away, and surrounding the centre are more than 6,000 hotel rooms, including the world-renowned Half Moon and Sandals Resorts, shopping centres and championship 18-hole golf courses.

Montego Bay, the tourism capital and second-largest city in Jamaica also offers groups conveniences such as duty-free shopping. Groups can cruise the bioluminescent Luminous Lagoon, snorkel in the pale aqua waters of Doctor’s Cave Beach or hit the nightclubs on the Hip Strip. Also popular is the 18th century Rose Hall Plantation and Great House, which the area is named after. Always helpful to know, meeting-related expenses incurred in Jamaica by US-based groups qualify as tax-deductible.
