Israeli genomics firm opens easier route to AI system for NHS labs

Government approval gives hospitals and public laboratories a quicker route to technology designed to interpret complex genomic information linked to rare diseases and cancer

NHS laboratories will be able to buy an AI-powered system designed to help analyse complex genetic data more easily after its developer was approved for a UK Government procurement scheme.

Geneyx Genomex has been added to the UK government’s G-Cloud 15 framework, giving eligible NHS organisations, hospital laboratories and public research institutions a streamlined route to purchase its genomic analysis software.

The technology is designed to help specialists make sense of the huge quantities of genetic information generated when DNA and other biological material are sequenced.

It can analyse data from both short- and long-read sequencing and combine information from DNA, RNA and epigenetics, with Geneyx saying its AI can automate multiple stages of the interpretation process.

The platform is used in work involving rare and inherited diseases and cancer, where identifying potentially significant genetic changes can require specialists to sift through large and increasingly complex datasets.

Geneyx, which is headquartered in Israel, said it could make the technology easier for UK genomic laboratories to access as demand for sequencing increases and newer techniques generate greater volumes of data.

David Yizhar, chief executive of Geneyx Genomex, said: “Joining G-Cloud 15 is an important step in expanding access to Geneyx across the UK. Genomic laboratories are being asked to interpret more samples, more complex sequencing data and an expanding range of genomic technologies, while maintaining the accuracy and consistency required for clinical and research applications.

“Our inclusion on G-Cloud 15 gives eligible UK organizations a more straightforward procurement route to Geneyx and to our AI-powered agentic workflows, long-read capabilities and integrated multi-omics analysis.”

The company describes its AI system as using “agentic workflows”, meaning it can coordinate a series of tasks across different stages of genomic analysis rather than applying AI to a single step.

Its software can also bring together several forms of biological information in one workflow, potentially allowing researchers to investigate findings that cannot be fully explained by DNA data alone.

Geneyx said more than 694,000 genomic analyses have been carried out on its platform, which has more than 5,500 users in 55 countries.

G-Cloud 15 is the latest version of the government framework used by public bodies to procure cloud software, hosting and support services.
