A Land Rover once owned by King Charles and Queen Camilla goes under the hammer next month with a price tag of just £42,000
The Defender 90, which has the licence plate ’72 HRH’, was supplied new to the couple when they were Prince of Wales and Duchess of Cornwall.
According to Iconic Auctioneers, the “cherished” vehicle was delivered to the Royal Garage at Highgrove House for their sole use in 2010.
Finished in classic Keswick Green, it has a charcoal grey interior and just 24,595 miles on the clock.
There is only wear to the right-sided driver’s seat, suggesting Charles drove the manual Land Rover himself and was not a chauffeur driven passenger.
And unlike most Defenders, which have little in the way of creature comforts, this “superb example” has heated seats and screens, and a full year’s MOT.
The hard top also boasts a “small amount of interesting paperwork” including a Land Rover Motoring Users Guide, a Land Rover Assistance Membership Card, and a period Certificate of Motor Insurance.
The original service book that details its first check-up by a local garage in Wooton-under-Edge near Highgrove is also included in the sale.

It is set to go under the hammer on Saturday 22nd March 2025 under the lot title, “2010 Land Rover Defender 90 – Ex-King Charles” with an estimate of between £42,000 and £50,000.
The number plate ‘72 HRH’ was added by its current owner, who kept the vehicle has part of a personal collection. It does not form part of the sale but could be available by separate negotiation, according to Iconic Auctioneers.
Its website says: “Delivered new to the Royal Garage at Highgrove House on 15/11/2010 and pleasingly, the confirmation letter addressed to Tim Williams, Head Chauffeur to HRH The Prince of Wales & TRH The Duchess of Cornwall is retained within the history file.

“Finished in Keswick Green with a Charcoal Grey interior which interestingly only shows minor wear to the driver’s seat, indicating that this was not a chauffeur-driven Defender.
“Supplied by JLR Special Vehicles for the sole use of The Prince of Wales and HRH The Duchess of Cornwall (at the time). Has more recently formed part of a small but dedicated Royal Collection, dutifully cared for by its fastidious owner.
“By their nature, a Defender rarely has any form of creature comforts but, as one might expect, this superb example does have the luxury of heated seats and heated front and rear screens.
“With a current indicated mileage of just 24,595, this Defender has clearly been cherished throughout its life which reflects in its current condition.”
