In 2023, around 9% of all overnight stays in Vienna was in the area of congresses, meetings and incentives.

The Vienna Convention Bureau has been keeping statistics since 1991 in order to:

• measure the economic significance, business development and marketing activities
• know what is going on in the region
• be comparable with other tourist segments
• be able to present better economic arguments when creating new infrastructure
• create an awareness for the economic significance and the importance of the meeting and incentive industry
• increase the acceptance of the business segment
• lobby and promote the meeting destination Vienna
• document the abilities of the meeting industry in Vienna
