The South Korean technology giant expects quarterly operating profits to reach an unprecedented 107.4 trillion won (£61bn), driven by soaring demand for memory chips used in artificial intelligence
Samsung Electronics has forecast its fourth consecutive quarter of record operating profits, with earnings expected to soar almost ninefold to £61bn amid booming demand for artificial intelligence chips.
The South Korean technology giant expects operating profits of 107.4 trillion won ($80bn) for the three months to September, almost nine times the 12.17 trillion won recorded during the same period last year.
Sales are also expected to more than double, climbing from 86.06 trillion won to approximately 195 trillion won (£111bn).
Samsung is among the world’s largest manufacturers of memory chips, alongside South Korean rival SK Hynix and US-based Micron.
Demand for the semiconductors used in AI data centres has surged as technology companies invest billions in expanding their computing infrastructure, driving chip prices higher.

The figures, published in preliminary earnings guidance yesterday, show the company reported operating profits of 89.49 trillion won for the second quarter of 2026, meaning its latest forecast represents a further rise of around 20 per cent in just three months.
Samsung, which also manufactures Galaxy smartphones and other consumer electronics, expects quarterly revenue of between 194 trillion and 196 trillion won, with operating profits ranging from 107.3 trillion to 107.5 trillion won.
