The pace of change in the world is accelerating every day. Enabled by digitalisation and realised by individuals and companies that look to the future rather than the past, new innovations and business ideas are transforming the global marketplace.
To retain its place at the vanguard of world trade, shipping has to keep pace with this development. At Nor-Shipping 2017, taking place at a series of venues across Oslo and Lillestrøm from 30 May to 2 June, we’re dedicated to enabling and showcasing the businesses and concepts that we believe will drive our industry forwards to a new age of sustainable success.
Be the change
The main theme of this year’s exhibition and activity programme is ‘Catalyst for Change’. Underneath that umbrella, there’s a broad spectrum of initiatives, ranging from forums and events linked to key maritime locations, such as Brazil, Africa and Asia, to the industry’s first Global Young Owners Forum, a special focus on encouraging diversity in shipping. There are also crowdsourcing and awards activity where enhanced sustainability, innovation and energy efficiency will be firmly in the spotlight. We aim to highlight opportunity, address challenges and help deliver insights and solutions that are truly unique.
The decision to dedicate an entire hall to the new concept of ‘Disruptive Sustainability’ is also something our delegates will not experience anywhere else within the shipping calendar.
We believe our industry can either disrupt or be disrupted. We have to embrace change, not resist it. What can we learn from other industries? What technology can revolutionise our businesses, assets and the delivery of our services? How can new thinking transform established models? How can we break free from business cycles?
These are important questions that must be addressed. Nor-Shipping’s Hall A is focused exclusively on doing so, using the platform of ‘Disruptive Sustainability’ to interact with thought leaders from both within and without our industry – showcasing ideas and technology, sharing learning and enabling new ways of working, with new partners and new benefits.
This, alongside our other halls focusing on IT & Navigation, Safety & Rescue, Shipbuilding & Repair, Maritime Services & Logistics, and Propulsion & Machinery, means we have the complete exhibition for all future focused shipping stakeholders.
A festival of opportunities
Some things never change though. Shipping is as much about relationships as it ever was. Knowing the right people, understanding their needs and providing the products and services to answer that demand is still central to success.
That’s why events such as Nor-Shipping remain so fundamentally important to the industry. We provide the platform for face-to-face interaction, for building relationships with key decision makers. Whether that is on our exhibition stands or at the bustling social venues we provide on Nor-Shipping Island and Festival Street in Oslo, this is where the maritime world meets. We look forward to meeting you at Nor-Shipping 2017.
