Building a better tomorrow

Lebanon’s economy, and its construction sector in particular, is expected to see a major boost following the 2018 Cedar (CEDRE) Conference for international donors and investors. The event resulted in $11.8bn in pledges of financial assistance for the country, out of which $11bn are in soft loans. There were 51 countries represented at the conference in addition to international donor institutions.

The European Bank for Reconstruction & Development (EBRD) intends to invest at least $200m in Lebanese equities, renewable energy, and water resources in 2019. Billions of dollars are being invested in Lebanese projects, such as Tripoli Special Economic Zone ($270m), Beirut Rafic Hariri International Airport expansion ($500m), Rene Mouawad Airport rehabilitation and expansion ($100m) and many more.

Project Lebanon

Now, in its 24th edition, Project Lebanon is the premier event of its kind in the region and brings together industry leaders from around the world. The event will be held from 18 to 21 June 2019 at Seaside Arena, Beirut New Waterfront and, as the annual meeting point for the region’s construction industry, it will play a key role in the 2019 dynamic construction and infrastructure market.

The event is set to welcome leading companies from around the world to help mobilise upcoming projects, source leading-edge technologies and products, and forge new partnerships and ventures. “We’ve been [coming] here for 12 consecutive years. This is an important investment for the Italian government. We have high expectations for the Lebanese market. We believe Lebanon is the gateway to the Middle East and the Gulf countries…” says Francesca Zadro, Trade Commissioner of the Italian Trade Agency.

In 2018, 400 exhibitors from 17 countries participated at Project Lebanon. The exhibitors showcased products and solutions from the stone, building materials and equipment, power and electrical energy, interiors and finishing materials, HVAC, lighting, and PMV sectors.

“Project Lebanon is an ideal setting for French companies wishing to establish business contacts in Lebanon to promote their know-how. The French pavilion celebrated its 10th participation in this important show in 2018,” said Marie Maamari, the Directrice Bureau of Business France Lebanon.

The event allows face-to-face networking opportunities with a high-quality audience and enables participants to establish new contacts, renew existing partnerships and explore new business opportunities.

Project Lebanon 2019 is held concurrently with Energy Lebanon and Interior & Design.
